Description

After Joel Morrison lost his children in the 1952 Kern County earthquake, God blessed him with a successful business and five more children. Now those children are grown and on their own; however, Joel worries that the devourer has once again set his sights on them. For the most part, Joel's children are successful and prosperous, yet they remain unhappy. So, in an attempt to teach them a lesson in giving, Joel decides to radically alter his will. The decision is not met with widespread acceptance, but an unforeseen announcement from one of his daughters soon awakens the others to a new perspective. Dee Dee Morrison-Milner is a movie star and the "wild child" of the Morrison family. When her younger sister, Elaine, asks her to adopt an African orphan girl named Natua, Dee Dee agrees, but only because she believes adopting an underprivileged child may benefit her career. Soon, a psychopathic fan fixates on Dee Dee's new family, and the actor finds herself running from a stalker. When Natua is threatened, Dee Dee turns to her estranged husband, Drake Milner, in hopes of protecting the child whose kind nature stole her heart and helped her return to God.

About the Author

Vanessa Miller of Dayton, Ohio, is a best-selling author, playwright, and motivational speaker. Her stage productions include Get You Some Business, Don't Turn Your Back on God, and Can't You Hear Them Crying. Vanessa is currently in the process of turning the novels in her Rain Series into stage productions. Vanessa has been writing since she was a young child. When she wasn't writing poetry, short stories, stage plays, and novels, reading great books consumed her free time. However, it wasn't until she committed her life to the Lord in 1994 that she realized all gifts and anointing come from God. She then set out to write redemption stories that glorified God. Her books have received positive reviews, won Best Christian Fiction Awards, and topped best-sellers lists. Vanessa is a dedicated Christian and devoted mother. She graduated from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, with a degree in organizational communication. In 2007, Vanessa was ordained by her church as an exhorter. Vanessa believes this was the right position for her because God has called her to exhort readers and to help them rediscover their places with the Lord.
