Featured Author Interview: Glenda Lord-Wright

Check out the video above for a more personal interview! The written interview below has more fun facts about our author!!

Have you ever considered writing under a pseudonym and why or why not?

I would not consider authoring under a different name. Some time ago while praying over my books, I heard the HOLY SPIRIT speak to me. As you see, 'Lord' is my maiden name and the HOLY SPIRIT said that I was born into this family specifically because of this point in my life as I would be a children's book author. The reason was important because my maiden name was to be used to point to and glorify HIM and I would never consider using any other name.

When did you first call yourself a writer?

It took quite some time before I considered myself a writer. After my first book was published, it was still surreal to me. Sometimes I still feel that way when I open it up and read it again.

What other authors are you, friends, with, and how do they help you become a better writer?

Charlie Mackesy is an author I recently came across and fell in love with his book "The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse".

Part of being an author is not only being creative with words but also with art. I am an artist as well as a children's book author and reading and seeing Charlie Mackesy's artwork in his book is fantastic!! His story and art stir my thoughts and have inspired me to be more creative so that my writings and artwork are more entwined to draw the reader in.

Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?

When I first started writing Adventures of Ferguson, the Little Red Fox, I wasn't sure but through prayer I again was led to the answer. This chapter book is the first in a series.

How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?

I have books 2 and 3 completed and ready for publication.

What did you edit out of this book?

Oh my ... I edited out bumbles and poorly written sentences. Don't ask me how many times I edited this book!!! LOL ... it was my first attempt at writing a children's chapter book!

What is your favorite childhood book?

I remember reading over and over again a mystery series of "Trixie Belden". Those adventurous mysteries sparked my imagination and every story came to life! Sweet times in my young life.

Who are the people in your life that you based these characters on?

Oh, THAT is part of the surprise in each book. I can't give-away this information because some of my characters change with each new adventure!

What should people know about this book before reading this book?

“Adventures of Ferguson, the Little Red Fox" is the first in this series based in Yellowstone National Park.

Each book will take Ferguson and his friends to different areas of the Park ... real places to explore.

If you have not had the opportunity to visit Yellowstone National Park, I hope you put it on your goal list - it is a MUST see!

We live close to Yellowstone National Park and have had many opportunities to explore there and I can't wait to return. FEEL FREE to use FERGUSON as your guide!
